microneedling with pdrn and blue copper peptides in st petersburg florida

If you have been hearing about salmon DNA facials and blue copper peptides and wondering what all the excitement is about, you are in the right place. These are two of my favorite skin boosters, and in my studio in St. Petersburg, Florida, I pair them with gentle microneedling for a treatment my clients love.

I am Bianca Cypser, a licensed esthetician, and I have been working on skin for over 20 years. I use PDRN and blue copper peptide on my own skin, and they are the two boosters I reach for the most. In this article, I want to walk you through what each one is, what the topical research says about them, why I love using them together, and what it is like to come in and customize your own microneedling treatment at Imagine You New.

What Is PDRN Salmon DNA?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. That is a long word for a simple idea. PDRN is made from fragments of DNA, and the most common source is salmon. That is why you hear people call it a salmon DNA facial.

PDRN first became well known in Korea, where skin care is focused on healthy, hydrated, glass skin. Today it is one of the most talked about skin care ingredients in the world, and for good reason.

On the skin, PDRN is known for:

Supporting the skin's natural recovery after treatments

Helping skin hold onto hydration

Supporting elasticity and a bouncy, plump look

Softening the look of fine lines

Improving the look of texture

Helping stressed, tired skin look calm and refreshed

What the Topical Research Says About PDRN

Most of the early PDRN research was done on professional injections, but I focus on topical use, which is what I use in my treatments and what I sell in my shop.

The topical research is newer and the studies are small, but they are promising. Small studies of PDRN creams and serums have shown improvements in hydration, elasticity and the look of fine lines. A few studies have also looked at PDRN used after professional skin treatments like microneedling or laser, and found it helped skin look calmer and less red while it recovered.

That is exactly why I love it after microneedling. Your skin is primed and ready, and PDRN helps it look calm, hydrated and glowing.

What Is Blue Copper Peptide?

Blue copper peptide is also called GHK-Cu. It is a small peptide, made of three amino acids, attached to copper. It gets its name from its beautiful blue color.

Here is something I find fascinating. GHK-Cu is a peptide our own bodies make naturally. When we are young, we have more of it. As we get older, our levels drop. That is one of the reasons it has become such a popular anti-aging skin care ingredient.

On the skin, blue copper peptide is known for:

Supporting firmness and elasticity

Supporting the skin's natural collagen

Softening the look of fine lines and wrinkles

Improving the look of skin density and texture

Antioxidant support against everyday environmental stress

Helping skin look renewed and resilient

What the Topical Research Says About Blue Copper Peptide

Of the two, blue copper peptide has the stronger topical research. Small clinical studies of copper peptide creams, used over about 8 to 12 weeks, found improvements in the look of firmness, elasticity, skin density and fine lines. Some of those studies found it compared well to other well known anti-aging ingredients.

That is why I call blue copper peptide my firming booster. When a client tells me she wants her skin to look tighter and more lifted, this is one of the first boosters I recommend.

Why I Love Pairing PDRN and Blue Copper Peptide

PDRN and blue copper peptide work beautifully together because they focus on different things.

PDRN is my hydration and recovery booster. It helps skin look calm, plump and glowing.

Blue copper peptide is my firming booster. It supports a tighter, smoother, more resilient look.

Together, they give you the best of both. Your skin looks hydrated and glowing on the surface, and firmer and smoother over time. That is why this is my personal favorite combination, and it is what I use on my own skin.

How Microneedling Fits In

Microneedling is also called collagen induction therapy. A pen with very fine needles creates tiny channels on the surface of the skin. Your skin responds by supporting its own natural renewal, which is why microneedling is known for improving the look of texture, fine lines, pores and dullness over a series of treatments.

As a licensed esthetician, I perform microneedling within the scope of my esthetics license. My treatment is gentle and focused on healthy, glowing skin, not aggressive treatments with long downtime.

During and after your microneedling, I apply your custom booster blend. Your skin is ready to soak up the hydration and nourishment, and that is the moment these boosters really shine.

You can read more about the full treatment on my main microneedling page: Microneedling in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Create Your Own Booster

This is my favorite part. At Imagine You New, you are not getting a one size fits all facial. You get to customize your treatment.

You choose up to three boosters, and I mix them into a custom blend made just for your skin. PDRN and blue copper peptide are my favorites, but I have so many more to choose from:

Oligopeptides, small peptides known for supporting smoother, firmer looking skin

Hexapeptide, known for softening the look of expression lines

Niacinamide, known for evening tone, calming redness and refining the look of pores

Glutathione, an antioxidant known for brightening dull, uneven skin

NAD+, an antioxidant known for supporting a youthful, refreshed look

Volufiline, a plant based ingredient known for a plumping, volumizing look

Hyaluronic acid, a hydration magnet for plump, dewy skin

Popular Combinations With PDRN and Blue Copper Peptide

Renew and refresh: PDRN, blue copper peptide and oligopeptides

Smooth lines and firm: PDRN, blue copper peptide and hexapeptide

Plump and glow: PDRN, blue copper peptide and hyaluronic acid

Bright and firm: blue copper peptide, glutathione and niacinamide

Youthful glow: PDRN, blue copper peptide and NAD+

Not sure what to choose? Just tell me what bothers you most about your skin, and I will help you build the right blend.

Customize Your Whole Facial From Over 100 Products

My shop in St. Petersburg has over 100 professional skin care products, and when you come in for your treatment, you get to use them. You choose your boosters, your serums, your creams and your mask. Every part of your treatment is made for you.

And speaking of masks, I have over 20 to choose from. Some are for deep hydration, some for calming, some for brightening, and some just give you that extra glow before a big event. My clients love walking over to choose their mask. It makes the whole experience feel personal and fun.

All of my boosters are imported professional formulas, and they are some of the best I have ever worked with. I truly love my products, and I only carry what I would use on my own skin.

PDRN or Blue Copper Peptide: Which One Is Right for You?

If you can only choose one, here is how I help my clients decide.

Choose PDRN if your skin feels dry, tired or stressed. If you have been traveling, not sleeping well, spending a lot of time in the Florida sun, or your skin just looks flat and dull, PDRN is a beautiful choice. It is all about hydration, a calm look and that healthy glow.

Choose blue copper peptide if your main concern is firmness. If you are noticing that your skin looks a little looser around your jawline, your cheeks or your neck, or your fine lines are becoming more noticeable, blue copper peptide is the booster I recommend first.

Choose both if you want glow and firmness together. Honestly, this is what most of my clients end up choosing once they hear how well they work together. Then you still have one more spot to add a third booster, like hyaluronic acid for extra hydration or niacinamide for a more even tone.

Why Topical Boosters Matter

A lot of people ask me why I focus on topical boosters. For me, it comes down to two things.

First, topical boosters let me customize every treatment. Your skin is different from your friend's skin, and it is even different from what it was last season. With topical boosters, I can change your blend every visit based on what your skin needs that day.

Second, topical boosters are something you can continue at home. The same PDRN and blue copper peptide I use in my treatments are available in my shop, so your skin care routine at home supports the work we do in the studio. That consistency is what keeps skin looking its best.

Signs Your Skin Would Love This Treatment

You might be a great fit for PDRN and blue copper peptide microneedling if:

Your makeup no longer sits smoothly on your skin

Your skin looks tired even after a good night's sleep

You are noticing your first fine lines

Your skin feels tight and dry, even with moisturizer

Your pores look larger than they used to

You have an event coming up and want your skin to glow

Who This Treatment Is For

PDRN and blue copper peptide microneedling is a great choice if you want to improve the look of:

Fine lines and early signs of aging

Loss of firmness

Dull, tired skin

Uneven texture

Dehydrated skin

Large looking pores

Mild acne scars

It is also a great choice if you want a treatment that feels customized, with very little downtime.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

When you arrive, I cleanse your skin and we talk about your goals. Then we choose your boosters together, and I mix your custom blend.

Next, I apply a numbing cream so you stay comfortable. Most of my clients find the treatment very relaxing.

Then I perform your microneedling and apply your booster blend during and after the treatment.

We finish with your mask, your serums and your creams, all chosen by you.

Downtime and Aftercare

Because this is a gentle treatment, most clients have very little downtime. Your skin may look a little pink, like a mild sunburn, for about a day.

For the first 24 hours:

Skip makeup

Skip workouts and sweating

Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs

Keep your skin clean and use gentle products

Protect your skin from the sun

Florida sun is strong, so daily sunscreen is a must to protect your results. I send you home with aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to do.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Many of my clients see a fresh glow after their first treatment. For firmness, texture and fine lines, a series of treatments works best, usually spaced about four weeks apart. I will build a plan with you based on your skin and your goals.

Keep Your Results Going at Home

The same PDRN and blue copper peptide products I love are available in my shop, so you can keep your skin looking its best between treatments. Ask me which products match the boosters you chose, and I will help you build a simple home routine.
