This is what real restoration looks like. It isn't coloring in the spot where a piece of an areola is missing. It's rebuilding the whole area and putting it back together with tattoo. It isn't plastic surgery, but in a way it feels like it, because I'm reconstructing the look of the entire areola and nipple.

Please know the photo with this article was taken right after I finished her first session. It is not healed. Right after a session, the area looks red, darker and a little raised. Over the next few weeks it settles, softens and turns a more natural color. What you see is the work in progress, not the final result.

Her Story

This client had breast implants placed through an incision around the areola. As she healed, her areolas changed. Every body heals differently, and hers healed unevenly.

One areola was more oval and sat higher, with more scar tissue around it. The other was smaller and rounder. Her nipples weren't even either. They barely protruded anymore, and they no longer became erect.

She had another surgery to try to correct it, but years went by and her areolas still didn't look the way she wanted. Surgery can make an areola smaller, but it can't restore color, it can't fix hypopigmentation, and it can't smooth out the ridges of scar tissue. That's where restoration tattooing comes in. Then she found me.

What I Did in the First Session

I created new nipples, matching their size and placement so they're even. With 3D shading and highlight, I gave them the look of natural projection.

I canceled out the areola color that didn't belong, the parts that made one side oval and uneven, so the new shape is the one you see.

I changed the color of both areolas so they match each other and look natural with her skin.

I reshaped both areolas so they're symmetrical in size, shape and position.

What Comes Next

This is a project, and it's real restoration work. Over the next sessions, the nipples will get even more protrusion and depth. The canceled-out areas will blend away, so you won't see them. The areolas will become more defined, and the leftover scarring will blend into her skin. The only thing we'll still be softening is the white hypopigmentation.

When we're done, it will look normal: a natural breast with symmetrical areolas and nipples.

How Long It Takes and Project Pricing

Restoration like this can take six to eight sessions to reach perfection, with healing time in between so I can adjust the color each time. I offer a project price for cases like this, one flat fee for the whole project, so you're not paying visit by visit. I'm very fair and reasonable, and your price is confirmed at your $75 consultation, which goes toward your procedure.

Who This Helps

If your areolas healed uneven, stretched, scarred, faded or different sizes after breast implants, a breast lift, a breast reduction or a mommy makeover, this kind of restoration may be right for you. It also helps if you've already had a revision surgery and still aren't happy with how your areolas look.

Questions and Answers

Can areola tattooing fix uneven areolas after breast implants?

Yes. I reshape, recolor and resize the areolas with tattoo so they match each other.

Can you make flat nipples look like they protrude?

Yes. I use 3D shading and highlight to create the look of natural projection.

Can you cover parts of an areola that don't belong?

Yes. I cancel out the extra color so the new shape is the one you see.

What if surgery didn't fix my areolas?

That's very common. Surgery can change size, but it can't restore color, hypopigmentation or scar ridges. Restoration tattooing rebuilds color, shape and symmetry.

How many sessions does areola restoration take?

A full restoration like this usually takes six to eight sessions.

How much does areola restoration cost?

I charge one flat project price that covers your sessions. It is confirmed at your $75 consultation, which goes toward your procedure.

Does it look red right after?

Yes. It looks red and the color is strong right after a session, then it softens and settles as it heals.

How long after breast surgery can I start?

Most areas are ready about a year after surgery, once they are fully healed and settled.

How do I get started?

Send me a photo and tell me what you'd like to change, and I'll let you know if it's a good fit.
