Facelift scars are placed at the temple and along the hairline, in front of the ear, under the earlobe, and behind the ear into the lower hairline. A neck lift can add a small scar under the chin. Surgeons place them there to hide them, but once a scar heals white, it can still show, and that is where scar camouflage comes in.

I am Bianca Cypser, and I do facelift scar camouflage at my studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. Clients come to me from Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and all over the Tampa Bay area. Here is what I see with each incision and how I work on it.

The Temple and Hairline Scar

The temple scar is often the one that shows more than people expect. Scars higher up in the hairline can be thicker, but the hair partly covers them. It really can go either way, so I look at each one closely.

Even the scars that are hidden in the hair, I still work on. I go through that whole area in detail so nothing is left behind.

Sometimes the hair along the scar line is thinner too. When that happens, I can fill it in with shading using scalp ink or with microblading strokes, along with camouflaging the white scar, so the whole area looks natural.

The Scar in Front of the Ear

This is the biggest one for people because it sits right out on the face. It usually follows the line of the ear, but I also see incisions that go across onto the cheek. Those white lines running across the face can be pretty brutal for clients.

For these, I use light shading over several sessions. Building the color slowly is what makes it look natural and blend into the skin instead of looking like a patch.

Under the Earlobe and Behind the Ear

The scar behind the ear is a big deal for both women and men. Women notice it when they wear their hair up in a ponytail or a bun. Men often have shorter hair, so there is nothing to cover it at all. That makes it an important one to camouflage.

I have done a lot of cases on scars behind the ear, and you can see them in my full portfolio on my website.

Behind the ear, and especially above it, the area is bony and can be sensitive even with numbing. I work gently there, and I use a technique that keeps you more comfortable while still getting the ink where it needs to go.

The Scar Under the Chin

If you had a neck lift with your facelift, you may have a scar under the chin. It is usually a small, straightforward line, sometimes with little marks across it. This one is typically easy to camouflage over a few sessions.

Do Facelift Scars Go Away?

No, facelift scars do not go away. They fade and flatten, but many heal hypopigmented, which means lighter than your skin. That white line does not darken on its own, and makeup rubs off.

Can a White Tattoo Cover a White Scar?

Yes and no. White pigment alone can turn yellow over time, so I add other colors that match your real skin tone. That is what makes the scar disappear into your skin instead of standing out a different way.

How Many Sessions and When to Start

Most clients need 6 to 8 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, for detailed, clean results. Smaller scars, like the one under the chin, often take fewer. I give you one project price for the whole treatment, so you are not paying session by session.

I usually recommend waiting about 12 months after your facelift so the scar is fully healed. Always check with your surgeon first.

What Clients Tell Me Afterward

Some of my clients have been hiding their facelift scars for years. When we finish, they always tell me how much better they feel. They do not have to figure out how to cover it, or worry about where they are going and who is going to see it.

Questions and Answers

Where are facelift scars placed?

At the temple and along the hairline, in front of the ear, under the earlobe, and behind the ear into the lower hairline. A neck lift may add a small scar under the chin.

Which facelift scar bothers people the most?

The scar in front of the ear, because it sits right on the face. Some incisions also run across onto the cheek as white lines.

Do facelift scars go away?

No. They fade and flatten, but many heal lighter than the surrounding skin and stay visible.

Can you camouflage the scar behind the ear?

Yes. I have done a lot of these cases for women and men. Men often have shorter hair, so camouflage matters even more for them.

Does scar camouflage behind the ear hurt?

The area above and behind the ear is bony and can be sensitive even with numbing, so I work gently with a technique that keeps you comfortable.

Can you fill in thinning hair along a facelift scar?

Yes. I can use shading with scalp ink or microblading strokes to fill in the hair, along with camouflaging the white scar.

Can a white tattoo cover a white facelift scar?

Yes and no. White alone can turn yellow over time, so I add other colors to match your skin tone.

How many sessions does facelift scar camouflage take?

Most clients need 6 to 8 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, with one project price for the full treatment. Small scars under the chin often take fewer.

How long after a facelift can I get scar camouflage?

Usually about 12 months after surgery. Always check with your surgeon first.

Do you treat clients from Tampa?

Yes. My studio is in St. Petersburg, Florida, and clients come from Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and across the Tampa Bay area.
