3 Skin Care Habits that Make Acne Worse - Imagine You New

1.Trying a new acne treatment every week or so. This approach can irritate your skin, which can cause breakouts.

Washing your face throughout the day can irritate your skin and cause acne breakouts.

Instead do this:

It could take an acne product up to 3 to 4 months to be completely clear. Stay on one treatment and wait about 6 to 8 weeks to work.

2. Putting acids or acne products right on the blemish

This is not good because you are only targeting the area and not new areas that may breakout in the future.

Instead do this: Taking a small very thin amount of acne product and spreading it evenly on your skin. Then go back in and target the blemishes with the acne product.

3.Dry out your skin. Drying out the skin will irritate the skin. Most people with acne have only skin, so they want to dry it out with an acid or astringent. This will only make the skin more inflamed and then cause further acne.

Instead do this: Use the acne treatments as directed on the label, or how your esthetician tells you. A good product line with antioxidants, stem cells, and nutrients combined with acids to break and clear the skin will leave the skin clear and hydrated. You also want to avoid using astringents, rubbing alcohol, and anything else that can dry out your skin.

Yikes! I’ve been guilty of a couple of these acne mistakes. I love the tip for staying on one acne treatment for 6-8 weeks. This is something I am constantly struggling with.
